National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive:

STAMP OUT HUNGER! 2012

On Saturday, May 12, 2012 Lubbock Letter Carriers will collect non-perishable food donations to benefit those at greatest hunger risk in an effort to fight hunger during the National Association of Letter Carriers’ (NALC) 20th Annual Stamp Out Hunger! Food Drive.

Beyond the Call of Duty...

The Stamp Out Hunger! food drive is a nationwide effort to provide food to local food banks and pantries, which would otherwise have depleted stocks during the summer months, to help feed the hungry on a daily basis.

The Face of Hunger...

According to Feeding America, 35 million Americans are food insecure, hungry or at risk of hunger. Approximately one in four people in a soup kitchen line is a child. And one in four children in Lubbock are food insecure - they do not know where their next meal will come from.

To find out more about the Stamp Out Hunger! effort in your community, ask your letter carrier, contact your local post office or visit http://www.helpstampouthunger.com/.

 ...Got SNAP?

Are you, or someone you know, in need of food assistance? The South Plains Food Bank can help. We have an outreach team that can help you with the application process for SNAP (formerly known as Food Stamps); children's medicaid/CHIP; adult medicaid; Long Term Care; Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF); and Women's Health Program.

Do you work? That's okay! One of our outreach social workers can meet you somewhere public during your lunch, or you can set up an appoint to meet them at the Food Bank during your lunch break.

For more information or to begin the application process for any of these programs call the South Plains Food Bank at 806-763-3003 an ask for an outreach social worker.
