September is. . .

1 in 6. That's the number of Americans who will struggle with hunger today.
1 in 10. That’s the number of Seniors who depend on the SPFB for food assistance.
1 in 4. That’s the number of Lubbock children who may go to bed tonight hungry.
September is Hunger Action Month, and we’re asking all Americans to take action to fight domestic hunger. The need in this country is tremendous – but so is the impact that you can have.
One of the first things you can do this month is help us win a truck load of food. Scroll down and take the Hunger Action Month Pledge - it is located at the bottom of the green box, which runs down the right hand side of this home page! Then get your friends to take the pledge using a Lubbock zip code and we could be 1 of 10 food banks to win a whole truck load of food!
Check out our "30 Ways in 30 Days" Hunger Action Month calendar!
Throughout Hunger Action Month, the South Plains Food Bank, and Feeding America’s nationwide network of more than 200 food banks, is calling upon communities to take action through the “30 Ways in 30 Days” campaign. Whether it’s by advocating and raising awareness, making donations, or giving of your time and energy, find the way that’s right for you to make a difference during Hunger Action Month.

20th Annual Stuff the Bus:
School has started and for many children the excitement is dulled because they don't have the school supplies they need to begin their new school year. The South Plains Food Bank and corporate partners, and community members spent the first part of August gathering school supplies at the 20th Annual Stuff the Bus!
The school supply drive was a hit with volunteers putting together about 4,500 basic school supply bags for Lubbock County students to start of their school year geared for academic success.
Last Friday, August 20, volunteers and SPFB staff handed out 2,092 sacks of basic school supplies - 1100 of those were given out in the first 50 minutes of the distribution!
We will continue to distribute school supplies the week of August 23rd - 27th. You must have a school supply voucher, which can be obtained by calling your child's Lubbock County school.
Thanks to everyone who made this year's Stuff the Bus a tremendous success!
