National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive:

STAMP OUT HUNGER! 2011

On Saturday, May 14, 2011, Lubbock Letter Carriers collected non-perishable food donations to benefit those at greatest hunger risk in an effort to fight hunger during the National Association of Letter Carriers’ (NALC) 19th Annual Stamp Out Hunger! Food Drive.

Beyond the Call of Duty...

The Stamp Out Hunger! food drive is a nationwide effort to provide food to local food banks and pantries, which would otherwise have depleted stocks during the summer months, to help feed the hungry on a daily basis.

Our local Letter Carriers collected more than 45,000 pounds of food - 37,500 meals for families across the South Plains.

The Face of Hunger...

According to Feeding America, 35 million Americans are food insecure, hungry or at risk of hunger. Approximately one in four people in a soup kitchen line is a child. And one in four children in Lubbock are food insecure - they do not know where their next meal will come from.

To find out more about the Stamp Out Hunger! effort in your community, ask your letter carrier, contact your local post office or visit http://www.helpstampouthunger.com/.
