Agency information:
The South Plains Food Bank distributes more than 8 million pounds of food through a network of partnering agencies. We currently partner with more than 200 nonprofit organizations across our 21 county service area.
Several of our agencies partner in one of the following ways:
On-Site Feeder Program: These are programs which are day care or custodial care facilities that feed clients from one to three meals per day. Examples include: senior citizen centers, children's homes, homeless shelters, and rehabilitation facilities.
Pantry Program: These are programs which store foods at the agency or church facility for distribution to the needy. Pantry hours are set by the agency but should be on a regular basis.
Voucher Program: These are programs which screen clients to determine eligibility and issue vouchers to be redeemed for food boxes from SPFB. Food boxes are packaged by SPFB in Large or Medium sizes for distribution on a member agency's behalf. Boxes are packed from available supplies to provide balanced meals which include: staples, canned goods, frozen goods, and child-appealing foods.
Mobile Pantry: is a program where the South Plains Food Bank (SPFB) brings the premade food boxes to rural communities where it is difficult for agencies to maintain a pantry due to lack of volunteers and/or space. Also it helps eligible clients that cannot travel to Lubbock for assistance to receive food. This program is a partnership between the SPFB and the supporting agency in the rural community to allow them to reach the people in need.
