Starting November 1, 2025, SNAP benefits will be reduced nationwide, affecting families who rely on monthly assistance to buy groceries. For many in Lubbock and surrounding areas, this change means tighter budgets and less food on the table, but help is available. South Plains Food Bank is here to support you through this transition and make sure your family continues to have access to healthy, nourishing food.
What’s Changing with SNAP
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides funds each month that help eligible families buy grocery staples. From fruits and vegetables to meat, poultry, and dairy.
With the new funding reductions, some households may see a decrease in their monthly benefit amount, while others could lose eligibility altogether depending on income and household size. These changes are expected to impact thousands of families across the South Plains.
