More Than a Meal: Where the Funds Go

Proceeds from Feeding the Future benefit the Youth Leadership Program (YLP) at the South Plains Food Bank. This transformative program empowers young adults, ages 14 to 18, with life and job skills using the Food Bank’s 5-acre Carolyn Lanier Youth Farm as a living classroom.

Participants learn:

  • Horticulture skills including soil preparation, planting, nurturing, and harvesting produce.
  • Business and marketing by selling farm-grown produce and value-added products.
  • Essential life skills including nutrition, money management, and workplace readiness.

The program offers more than just hands-on experience. It develops leadership, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility. Many graduates leave with a stronger work ethic, confidence in their abilities, and a passion for contributing to their community.
