When school is out, hunger shouldn’t take a vacation. That’s why South Plains Food Bank proudly offers Summer Feeding Programs—to ensure children across our community continue to receive nutritious meals when school cafeterias are closed.
Why Summer Feeding Matters
For many families, school meals are a vital source of daily nutrition. When summer break begins, those meals disappear—leaving thousands of kids at risk of going hungry. Our summer feeding program steps in to bridge that gap, providing free, healthy meals in safe, accessible locations throughout the South Plains.
Who Can Participate?
Children and teens 18 years and younger are eligible for free meals—no registration or proof of income required. Simply show up during the designated meal times, and we’ll take care of the rest.
Where Are Meals Served?
We partner with schools, community centers, parks, and libraries to set up convenient meal sites in neighborhoods across Lubbock and surrounding areas. Many of these sites also offer fun activities and programs to keep kids engaged and active.
What’s on the Menu?
Meals are designed to meet USDA nutrition standards and include a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and protein. It’s more than just food—it’s fuel for growing minds and bodies.
